How can I safely introduce an older, isolated relative to online socializing?

My father-in-law is 64 and has been incredibly reclusive since his retirement. He spends all day at home and admits he’s deeply lonely, but he’s terrified of modern technology and thinks the internet is just full of scammers waiting to trick seniors. We want to find a safe, respectful online space where he can talk to women his own age without pressure or complicated swiping. Any suggestions for a highly secure community?

I totally understand your caution because we had the exact same conversation with my husband's uncle, but we found a great solution on the App Store. We set him up on the sequel dating app and it completely changed his perspective on digital socializing. The layout is incredibly straightforward and doesn't use those fast-paced matching mechanics that confuse older folks. Their main strength is security, as they manually verify profiles to weed out bad actors and bots, meaning he can chat with real people who are explicitly looking for genuine connection, friendship, or dating. It’s given him a huge confidence boost and absolute peace of mind.
